I have auditioned for the junior section with my friend Jamie and we are both going through to the next round on the 9th December

So for people who don’t know about it, what is MonologueSlamUK?

Jimmy Akingbola aka Mr Nice Jimmy is a Managing Director and Co-Founder of TriForce Promotions and Fraser Ayres aka Mr E Fraser is a Managing Director and Co-Founder of TriForce Promotions.

Jimmy: It is a showcase, but a showcase with a difference! We add in a dash of friendly competition to the mix to spice things up a bit. It’s a great evening out, both to see new talent and network with the industry people in the audience – our ‘industry ninjas!’

Fraser: There is another difference of course – it’s hugely important to us that actors shouldn’t pay to perform – so taking part in MonologueSlamUK is completely free.

Jimmy: There is one major change though. As part of our partnership with Stratford East, we’ve launched a Youth Round for 11-16 year olds at the start of the show. We’ve always wanted to extend the Slam to younger performers and working with Stratford has meant we’ve been able to do that.

The next MonologueSlamUK is on December 9th at Theatre Royal Stratford East. You can book tickets online: http://stratfordeast.com/monologueslam-uk-2

CHILDREN’S BAFTA

All fingers crossed and best wishes to LAProductions’ Colin McKeown and director Julia Ford for the Children’s Bafta nomination for STEPPING UP.  The Bafta event is tomorrow, Sunday and I voted for Stepping Up, of course.

Stepping Up

The move from primary to secondary school can be an exciting but sometimes daunting one, and Stepping Up – a brand new drama series for CBBC – focuses on children who are experiencing this transition.

The 5×28 minute stand-alone dramas, which will be penned by five different writers, will be themed around the new challenges children face when moving into this new and sometimes overwhelming environment.

Stepping Up will be made by Liverpool’s LA Productions. Executive producer for LA Productions is Colin McKeown and CBBC executive producer is Sue Nott.

THIS WEEKEND

I finished my PADI diving course today.  It was really exciting but it was also quite hard and very, very cold. We went to a quarry in Hampshire and the first morning was icy  and it almost  put me off.  Then I decided to persevere and I am really  glad I did so because, now I have my certificate! Yay!!!Diving 012   This is me with my buddy Seb, we look like a pair of turtles!   I am just thinking about getting in that freezing water again! Diving 006 And finally our group of very happy divers.  We all passed!!!   The instructors from Divecrew are the five on the right at the back. Diving 014

NOVEMBER 8th

Ha.  it is my birthday today and the cast and crew at the  recording studio sang happy birthday to me.  It was a great day with lots of fun during the recordings.  I got to see the control room and it looked very complicated.

THIRTEEN

I will be thirteen this week.  People say that being 13 is supposed to be a milestone but I don’t feel any different and I don’t want to grow up yet!  I like being a kid.   My mum got me a padi dive course for my birthday and I hope I will get my qualification soon.  The other boy in the picture is Ed, he is doing the course too and he is 12.  I really enjoy it and I hope to learn about underwater camera work.

I think this is what you would call an ironic photograph…
